Meet Radhika Srinivas

Radhika Srinivas is an accomplished artist based in Philadelphia, with a long list of accolades to her name.  Her work has been recognized in numerous juried exhibitions and Plein air events at both regional and national levels.  Notably, she has won the Outstanding Watercolor Award in the Bold Brush Online monthly competition multiple times (2015, 2016, 2018, and 2023), and her painting “Mercury” won 2nd Place Overall in the Plein Air Salon Competition for the month of August 2023. Radhika's talent has also been featured in a four-page article in the prestigious International Magazine, The Art of Watercolour, published in France.

Her work has been recognized by Miles Copeland the Third, an entertainment executive and former manager of the music band, The Police, who acquired two of her paintings during her recent trip to France. Her paintings can also be found in the collection of the city of Wilmington, Delaware, The Valley Forge National Park, and Raymond James Financial, as well as in private collections in the USA, India, and Singapore.

Radhika draws inspirations for her paintings from her travels around the world, Chester County, Pennsylvania and everyday urban street life.   Her specialty lies in capturing urban landscapes with an emphasis on architectural elements and the suggestion of busy city life.   With her paintings, she aims to transport viewers to that time and place and experience the feeling of being there. Her style is very impressionistic and evocative, with just enough suggestions and detail to weave a story for the audience. She starts each painting with sketches, value, and color studies from her own photographic references or painting en Plein air, which then leads to a finished painting. She is a signature member and the Past President of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, a signature member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and affiliated with the National Watercolor Society and the American Impressionist Society.  You can find her work at Square Pear Fine Art Gallery in Kennett Square, PA.

Other Supplies:

Palette - I use a Stephen Quiller Travelling Palette that is very useful for mixing colors according to the color wheel. You can use any palette with a large mixing surface that you are comfortable with.

Pencils - Mechanical or any 2b pencil, Kneaded Eraser, Viva Paper towel roll, Water container, masking tape, backing board to attach the paper, sponge, spray bottle (Holbein spray bottle), small sketchbook.

Disclaimer: The above materials are just a recommendation that I use. It is important to use paper that is at least 140 lb or higher to get good results. You can use any of the above brands for paints. These make for excellent color mixing and granulation. I have listed a mix of both warm and cool colors in each of the color categories.
