It’s all about the Brushwork.
I find working in watercolor to be one of the most rewarding, yet challenging, art forms. The unpredictability of the water and paint helps me form dramatic skies, seas, and the physical texture of real objects. The variety of watercolor techniques are things I play with while laying down the brushwork. The brush, the paint, and the water are my tools allowing me to create paintings infused with emotion.
Although I don’t fully understand it, my watercolor paintings have been described as sensitive and emotional. To me, they invoke a sense of realism in time and place. They are places and things that, for various reasons, mean something to me … I feel a connection. With each painting, I’m starting a story that you can complete.
